Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
* This is the first and still the best pond de-icer on the market * It works in all types of backyard ponds from 50-600 gallons * The 1250 watt, thermostatically controlled heater works automatically during freezing temperatures to keep a vent hole open in the ice. * This allows the harmful gasses caused by plant decay and fish waste to escape * Its cast aluminum design is very durable and efficient and works well in sub zero temperatures * This de-icer has a 10' power cord and comes with a 3 year warranty

5 out of 5 stars Pond De-Icer a Good Thing   January 13, 2007

I have 100 gallon plastic in ground pond which is only 18" deep and is approximately 4'W x 7'L. Currently it's -6 below and none of the Pond has iced over. I see our fish directly under the heater when it's cold. I keep the water circulating 24/7 in the pond with a pond pump which also has a fountain head in the middle of the pond. Recently we had over 36" of snow and the pond was burried in a drift. There was a 9" or so portion of the pond that was kept open. Most of the pond was slush in the water but my fish came through it all with no problem. I think it was due to the combination of the circulating water and the heater as well. I would recommend this pond heater to anyone who has a plastic preformed pond. None of the pond has froze even in sub zero temps which I find amazing and I'm sure this Pond Heater has helped keep it Ice Free.

The weather in my area got really cold since I got the deicer but I didn't have to go out to the pond to break the ice because the deicer was working great. I only had it for a month or so but I am more than happy with the product so far. My fish are doing just fine.

A good product. First one lasted over five years in all winter Northern location. Not too bad.

I have been very happy with the pond de-icer. It has worked very well especially when the temperature dropped to near zero.

4 out of 5 stars So far, so good!   December 24, 2008
I bought this heater after our small goldfish pond froze pretty solid in mid-November (way too early for a Connecticut freeze). Heater arrived within a few days and was easy to install since the pond had fortunately thawed enough by then to place the unit in a small space near the edge where the ice was thin. By next morning I was extremely happy to see a pretty large ice-free area around the heater, despite sub-freezing temperatures. About a week later with warmer weather I counted my goldfish and all had survived and seemed to be happily congregating nearby the heater. It's been a month now and all is well with this heater. It seems like a pretty good quality product.
